Postnatal yoga classes are a great way to nurture yourself in the months after giving birth.
The postnatal period can be one of great elation or deep anxiety, and most women will veer between the two, sometimes on a daily basis. Getting out of the house, building physical strength and confidence, and spending time with other mums, in a friendly supportive environment, are all really beneficial to a new mum adjusting to the changes that motherhood brings.
I’ve so enjoyed postnatal yoga, and will miss it! Thanks so much for helping out with my lovely, lively and very inquisitive son each week and for all the cuddles which he’s loved….I know I wouldn’t have had such a positive birth and start to motherhood without attending your classes, so I feel really glad I found them!Sarah (pregnancy & postnatal yoga)
The physical focus of the class is on postnatal recovery; repairing and strengthening the core (abdominal muscles, back and pelvic floor), easing tension in the back and shoulders, realigning the spine and strengthening the glutes, plus boosting flagging energy. At the start of each new block of classes we check for diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and for those who have it, we work on repairing it in a safe way.
Whilst my postnatal yoga classes focus on you, you are welcome to bring your baby along and they can lie beside you, giving you precious bonding time whilst you practice. The class is suitable from 6 weeks after birth, or 12 weeks if you’ve had a C-section. Classes are relaxed, friendly and fun and are a great way to meet new mums in your area.
I’m so grateful I was introduced to Donna’s postnatal yoga classes after having my daughter! The classes had a very relaxed environment for bringing a baby along and I felt able to balance the class with my daughter’s needs….Donna’s knowledge gave me the confidence to decide where I should push myself and where to hold back!Sally (pregnancy & postnatal yoga)
